The 50th conference of the Slovenian Foundry Industry took place from 8th to the 10th of September, by the Adriatic sea in Portoroz. Approximately 240 participants from 19 different countries as Germany, India, Sweden, and Italy attended the anniversary conference. Prof. Dr. Trbižan presented, in addition to the conference, an exposition of 20 high class castings, for example the Slovenian State emblem, which was cast with all the details of the original in bronze. Six plenary speeches and 28 speeches have been held, separated in sections as “cast iron and casting technology” and “non-ferrous alloys”, in English language and also in written form for all participants. Andrea Locati from Italpresse gave a lecture about the most recent developments and advantages of the toggle free (two platen) die casting machine. With the help of formulas, data and practical tests in the foundry, Andrea Locati proved the advantages of this new model. To date and since 2006, more than 50 machines have been delivered and are operating worldwide, including the largest, a 3000 ton for Daimler Ag in Germany. The benefits have been immediately evident to all the end-users and the success of the new model has grown progressively.
